Joan Devices

Joan devices are digital signage that display information. We have a Joan device on the front desk at the IT Suite that has our schedule on it. We can see the names of the consultants and the shifts that we are all working on that day. This is one of the functionalities of the sinage.

Integrations

Joanbot on Slack

We can use Joanbot on Slack to reserve rooms for meetings. The Joanbot uses natural language processing, so you can type your message as if you were talking to a coworker. But for best results, be as descriptive as possible.

Here are some example commands:

  • “Get me a room for tomorrow at 14:00”
  • “Hey Joan, book the war room on July 31st at 09:30 for 2 hours”
  • “Book me a room for June 31st from 10:00 until 15:00”

To integrate Joan with your Slack channel, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Joan Portal with your account credentials
  2. Navigate to the “Settings” page via the top navigation menu
  3. Select “Integrations” from the left-hand side menu
  4. Under the “Integrations” section, click the “Add to Slack” button
  5. You will be redirected to your company’s Slack page and will be prompted to allow certain permissions for Joan. If you agree to the terms, click “Install
  6. You will be redirected back to your Joan Portal and a notification will appear that you have successfully integrated Joan into Slack. This will be also indicated with a small green checkmark on the right of the “Add to Slack” button
