Accessory

Parts of an Accessory

  • Name: Name of the accessory(Ex. Macbook Air, Ipad, etc)
  • Manufacturer Location: the location where the certain accessory was manufactured
  • Quantity Minimum: The minimum number of units we have of this accessory

Creating Accessories

  1. Check if the accessory exists on Snipe IT. If it already does, select the accessory, click on “Actions” –> “Edit Accessory”, and increase the quantity accordingly.
  2. If it doesn’t, then go ahead and create a new accessory by filling out the following fields:
  • Accessory Name: (Example: Wireless keyboard/Apple Magic Mouse)
  • Category: Accessory
  • Manufacturer: Select an appropriate one from the drop down list
  • Quantity: enter in the quantity
  • Save

Editing Accessories

Unlike Assets, we DO NOT create new accessories every time. If an accessory of the same type already exists, then simply increase the quantity by the amount received.

  • Search if an accessory already exists. If not, create a new item. If it exists, change the quantity.

Tagging and Labeling Accessories

To label an accessory, please use the IT Service Desk laptop/iPad, and follow the instructions below:

  1. Follow the instructions here to print the label
  2. Once the label is printed, stick this on the rear side of the accessory (remove any existing/old labels from the accessory/item). DO NOT STICK THE LABEL ON ANY SORT OF OUTER PACKAGING, MAKE SURE TO LABEL THE ACTUAL ACCESSORY/ITEM

Check-In

  1. Click on the name of the accessory to bring up a list of users that checked out the item
  2. Find the user who is returning the accessory
  3. Click “Checkin”

Note: The quantity should automatically increase/decrease depending on your action. If the quantity did not change, manually edit the accessory and change the quantity.

Check-Out

  1. Find the desired accessory, click “Checkout” on the right side of the item.
  2. Fill out the following information:
  1. User: enter the unityID of the user. If the user is not listed, select “New” and fill out their information.
  2. Note: any additional information such as their office numbers, reasons for checking out, etc.
  3. Checkout
