Checklist Before Loaning/Deploying a device
- Attach [NCSU PCOM] logo sticker to computer
- Verify the computer name follows the naming convention [link to naming convention page]
- Cisco AnyConnect VPN is installed.
- Eduroam is installed.
- Admin privileges are given.
- Charger is provided if needed.
- Any program requested by the user is installed.
For personal computers, who need to be connected to NCSU’s wired network, all of these procedures are necessary before we can permit them onto the network.
General Needs for All Devices
- Make sure to find and checkout the device in SnipeIT. If you are deploying a device change the status to “Deployed to user”, If you are loaning a device change the status to “Checked out Loaner.”
- Make sure that the device has been labeled using the same asset tag displayed in SnipeIT.
Windows Laptops
- Make sure the Windows Device has been properly re-imaged to windows 10.
- Make sure that the student or faculty can log in to the laptop with their UnityID and Password.
- Make sure that the laptop successfully connects to the WiFi.
- Ask if there are any applications that the student or faculty needs on the device. You will need to use your admin access in order to download those applications onto the Windows Device.
- Make sure that the laptop has an active and working charger.
Mac Laptops
- Make sure the Mac device has been properly registered into JAMF.
- Make sure that the student or faculty creates their own account and can successfully login to the account.
- Make sure the laptop can successfully connect to the WiFi.
- If they have specific applications that they need on the laptop, than you can remotely push the download of that specific application through JAMF.
- If they ask if they need to update the laptop tell the student or faculty that we actively push out updates, bug fixes, or any new software programs needed through JAMF so they will not have to do anything in those regards.
Surface Pro/Surface Go
- Make sure that the surface device has been properly re-imaged to windows 10 or 11.
- Make sure the student or faculty can successfully login to the surface device with their UnityID and Password.
- Make sure that the device has been enrolled into eduroam and can successfully connect to the internet.
- If their are applications that the student or faculty needs on the device, then you will need to use your admin access to download those applications.
- Test the keyboard and the pen of the device and make sure both are working properly.
IPad’s
- Make sure that the IPad has been registered into JAMF.
- Make sure the student or faculty member can successfully get into the IPad with their account.
- If they have specific applications needed on the IPad we can push the downloads through JAMF as well.
- Make sure if they request for a pen and keyboard that they both will function with the version of the IPad as well as making sure they are working properly.
- Make sure all the policies are downloaded onto the IPad.
